Secret Agent is an accessible game that facilitates puzzle-solving in a social setting. Each match typically lasts between 7 to 25 minutes, depending on the number of cards in play.

The gameplay involves two teams, red and blue, each led by a spymaster whose objective is to guide their team to victory. The game can be played in single-team mode, where only the red spymaster makes moves while the blue team is automated, or in two-team mode, with selectable spymasters for both sides.

At the start, the board displays a variable number of word cards—ranging from 12 to 42—based on game configuration. A top bar indicates which team is to begin the game.

Each card corresponds to either the red team, blue team, a neutral state, or a black card. The spymaster has exclusive visibility of the card colors and can reveal this information by pressing the "Show Secret Code" button located at the bottom left of the screen.

The spymaster's role is to provide their team with one-word hints that relate to multiple cards of their team’s color, guiding team members toward correct guesses. For example, if red team cards include Snake, Mouse, and Eagle—classified as animals—the spymaster might give the hint "Animal" with a number indicating how many cards are being referenced. Team members then select up to that number of cards they associate with the hint; incorrect guesses—such as selecting a neutral or opposing team card—end their turn or switch control accordingly.

Hints must adhere to specific constraints: they cannot be identical to any words currently visible on the board nor contain any portion of those words.
